Railtown 1897 State Historic Park is located in Jamestown, California, approximately 2 hours south of Sacramento in the California foothills. Railtown is unique because it is the oldest continuously operating steam locomotive maintenance shop in the United States, where operations still occur daily.
Our partner is the California State Railroad Museum Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises the funds required to keep the operations and activities of the Jamestown shops alive. You can directly assist in supporting the park by becoming a member of the foundation. Members also receive free excursion train rides, free park admission, a quarterly newsletter, regular email updates, and offers for special events and behind-the-scenes opportunities at Railtown.
