Rick Willson, one of the workers on the Sierra #3 project is a master welder, and metal sculpture artist.
He has crafted a beautiful sculpture from some of the Sierra #3 tender scraps. A close observer could see the curved angle iron from the tender frame in the negative space under the bird’s beak, and perhaps even notice that the eyes are from the hole punch. The base is another curved scrap. If you are a follower of this blog, you’ve seen each of these pieces in previous posts.
This sculpture will be auctioned off at the Wine and Cheese Train fundraiser on September 19th.
