This past weekend, the mostly volunteer train crew was hard at work preparing for the operating season. The Federal Railroad Administration regulates the Railtown 1897 State Historic Park Railroad (as we are known in FRA documents), and we are subject to most of the same rules as the major railroads.
This means our crew must maintain their testing and qualifications, is subject to random drug and alcohol testing, and must operate under the General Code of Operating Rules. Its a big committment for our volunteers, and not always steam and glory!
Railtown 1897 State Historic Park salutes our dedicated professional volunteers who keep the trains safely operating for thousands of visitors every year. Thank You!
