Railtown 1897 shows off its restored No. 3 in Jamestown- From the Modesto Bee Dec 19, 2010

JAMESTOWN — Nothing beats a roaring fire close to Christmas, especially if it’s powering a steam train full of jolly passengers.

Railtown 1897 State Historic Park has been offering excursions that feature holiday music and visits from Santa Claus.

The special 45-minute trips, which conclude today, are a chance for the park to show off the newly restored No. 3 locomotive, an 1891 treasure that has appeared in many movies and television shows.

Sean can’t remember a time when he wasn’t a regular visitor at James-town’s Railtown 1897 State Historic Park, and he already knows as much about trains as most adults who work at the park. He spends most of his free time researching the role the Sierra Railroad played in connecting the Mother Lode with the rest of the world.
